A visit to Glebe House left me captivated by the legacy of Derek Hill—a man who looked at the rugged, wind-scoured edges of Donegal and saw a sanctuary for the soul. This painting centers on his legendary hut at Waniore on Tory Island. It was from this tiny, isolated outpost that Hill painted the Atlantic and, in doing so, inspired the island’s own community to pick up brushes and change the landscape of Irish art forever.
